Yes, after traveling 1740 miles from El Paso (TX) to Salt Lake City (UT) with many detours and stops at National Parks and Monuments, we managed to arrive at the Salt Palace Convention Center on Sunday afternoon. The first thing we obviously did is building the Open Horizons booth in the IT Central area of the big convention center hall. And then after the welcome reception and/or parties it was time to get back to business -BrainShare 2010 started with a great keynote on Monday morning 9:00 AM sharp.

Thank you very much, after the recent announcement of the Open Horizons Training initiative we received a lot of positive feedback - much appreciated. Of course there were also a number of (practical) questions, about discounts, cooperation and much more. As part of the GroupWise@Home project, Klaus Igel, one of our beta-testers, created a very cool tool. Thunderbird 2 GroupWise is a user friendly tool that transfers the existing mails from a Thunderbird mail client into GroupWise. Check it out! Created by the community for the community!

Recently Tommy Mikkelsen, the Lead Developer for GroupWise@Home, has created an article about the start of GroupWise@Home project. This short article was published in the Open Horizons Magazine and will reveal some of the details about the GroupWise@Home Project, as well as describing how it matured from an idea into a full blown project, with developers from all over the world coming together. The article has been written by one of the developers and, as such, may be a bit nerdish.

Saturday evening September 19 at 21:32 on the German autobahn: while driving the Open Horizons camper and passing a rather slow car, when switching to the left lane suddenly with a big bang the left rear tire blows away. The camper starts wobbling and by just managing to keep some control, it first hits the left guardrail, then swerves to the right into the side of the other car and ends up against the right guard rail. The first impulse is to check on the people in the other car, but they seem to be OK. Then it occurs to me that cars are still passing us very fast and you hear them hitting debris on the road.

Good news: as the beta program ended last week, Support Pack 1 for GroupWise 8 is now available for download. Many people have been waiting for the release of this support pack, to fully deploy GroupWise 8 in their organization.

While driving back from the EMEA Tour event in Wroclaw (PL) to Rotterdam (NL) on the German autobahn (no speed limits!), I realized once more that our world is shrinking quickly and also becoming "sticky and sweet" very fast. There is also some interesting news about several Open Horizons projects, like the EMEA Tour, "GroupWise@Home", "The GroupWise Powerguide - Second Edition"  and a new project for the "GroupWise 8 Admin Guide", so please read on.

I'm currently finishing an article for the next Open Horizons Magazine and I'd like to share some of the ideas behind that article with you. To really unleash the power of solutions like Teaming and GroupWise you need to make sure that at least a number of people in your organization has a more thorough understanding of the many possibilities and opportunities that these solutions can offer them and thus your organization. When introducing (new versions of) these soluytions you therefore need to focus and make sure you provide a wealth of information for your Powerusers and IT Professionals.
