BrainShare Amsterdam - Running Crazy PDF Print
Thursday, 20 May 2010
BrainShare Amsterdam is Running Crazy - in many different ways actually. First of all, yesterday (Tuesday May 18) appr. 30 people gathered at 18:00 for the Open Horizons Half Marathon - a beautiful run thru the historic city of Amsterdam - past the National Monument on the Dam, the Rijksmuseum, the Red Light district, the Vondelpark and many other beautifull spots - all linked into a fantastic track created by Sander van Vugt (NL). I joined that run myself and while Sander leaded the pack, I was happy to stay at the end of the group to make we did not loose to many runners along the way. And I was not afraid tho admit that I was the last to finish - after all it was Fun2Run.

Thursday, 22 April 2010
Well, after being stuck in Cape Town for several days due to the volcanic problems, I was really looking forward to go home again. Anyway, my trip home certainly became quite an adventure - just an good mixture of luck, bluff and loyalty should help me to get home even in these difficult conditions.

Volcano & Fire & Ice = Cooking in the Bowl PDF Print
Sunday, 18 April 2010
The Islandic Gods have taken revenge, first on Heathrow in the UK, soon followed by Schiphol Amsterdam Airport in the Netherlands and and then almost all other airports in Europe. And it is obvious that this was on behalf of the Islandic people, as they are hanging on with their fingernails and left in the cold by the rest of the world about the Icesave Bank dispute. And because of all that Fire in the Ice of Iceland a group of Open Horizons experts are now cooking in a real South African Bowl.

Ice in the Volcano - It is getting colder here... PDF Print
Sunday, 18 April 2010
Still stuck in Cape Town, it is getting colder here. Also, I now have 3 different plans to travel home. And although normally I enjoy being abroad quite a lot, in this situation going home is indeed tempting. As some planes towards Europe are flying again, I hope to be back soon. And oh boy, are these soccer fans arriving in June and July for the World Championships in for a surprise here in Cape Town - this is such an interesting place, but it will be winter by then...

BrainShare Salt Lake City - Here we come! PDF Print
Wednesday, 17 March 2010
Like many others I am on my way to BrainShare 2010 in Salt Lake City (US) and I am really looking forward to go back to Utah again. For a long time BrainShare USA has been one of the highlights of each year - after Xmas in early January the excitement starts to build up, preparing the sessions I will have to present at BrainShare and for the last few years also coordinating the Open Horizons booth as well. I missed this feeling of excitement in 2009, the building towards a climax and then after BrainShare the rush of starting with the Open Horizons EMEA Tour immediately afterwards, visiting between 15 and 20 cities in a few weeks.

The first thing we obviously did is building the Open Horizons booth in the IT Central area of the big convention center hall. And then after the welcome reception and/or parties it was time to get back to business -BrainShare 2010 started with a great keynote on Monday morning 9:00 AM sharp.

The show must go on .... and it will! PDF Print
Friday, 25 September 2009
Saturday evening September 19 at 21:32 on the German autobahn: while driving the Open Horizons camper and passing a rather slow car, when switching to the left lane suddenly with a big bang the left rear tire blows away. The camper starts wobbling and by just managing to keep some control, it first hits the left guardrail, then swerves to the right into the side of the other car and ends up against the right guard rail. The first impulse is to check on the people in the other car, but they seem to be OK. Then it occurs to me that cars are still passing us very fast and you hear them hitting debris on the road.

The Need to distinguish Roles in Our Organizations PDF Print
Friday, 20 March 2009
I'm currently finishing an article for the next Open Horizons Magazine and I'd like to share some of the ideas behind that article with you. To really unleash the power of solutions like Teaming and GroupWise you need to make sure that at least a number of people in your organization has a more thorough understanding of the many possibilities and opportunities that these solutions can offer them and thus your organization. When introducing (new versions of) these soluytions you therefore need to focus and make sure you provide a wealth of information for your Powerusers and IT Professionals.
