This is the first Open Horizons Magazine, have a look!
Welcome to the first issue of Open Horizons magazine, a publication that will provide you with a wealth of information about Novell GroupWise, Novell Teaming + Conferencing, and other Novell products that support communication and collaboration. With the start of a new year, I look ahead with excitement at the wide-open possibilities organisations have to enable people to collaborate more effectively using new technology. Novell’s original success was based on
the concept of collaboration — helping people share information. Now, in 2008, we are realising exciting Web
2.0 technologies that raise our opportunity for personal and team productivity to new heights. Novell GroupWise
and Novell Teaming + Conferencing deliver on these opportunities.
The GroupWiseR initiative is very proud to be able to present you with this first Open Horizons magazine. It has been  created by members of our very active community for the benefit of the community. When we started with GroupWiseR almost 5 years ago we never imagined that it would come to this - a new magazine, a 16+ city EMEA tour, 6 two-day Regional Summits, 1 three-day EMEA Summit, books and so much more. This magazine is rooted in the enthusiasmof the many people that have been involved during the past few years, a few of them you will meet as the authors of the articles.
Last December I attended the GroupWise EMEA Summit in Bruges, Belgium, for the first time and my goodness, this was an impressive event. For me it all started at the Novell office car park near Rotterdam, where I met the other people taking the VIP shuttle from the Netherlands to Bruges. Even though I wasn’t driving the shuttle myself, I was virtually in the driving seat, as it was my navigation system which helped guide us through the maze of small and winding streets of Bruges. This was how we managed to find our way to the magnificent Hotel Navarra, a luxury hotel in the ancient centre of Bruges with a history which goes back four hundred years.
Being the first issue I have decided to use a number of questions that I was asked at the GroupWiseR Summit in Bruges at the end of last year. If you have any question please send an email to QandA@open-horizons.net.
Here are a few examples of how you can get much more out of GroupWise, taken from “The GroupWise Powerguide” , another GroupWiseR community project.
All of you GroupWiseR’s who have attended the GroupWiseR EMEA Summits know me as “The guy who was the first to register. Again”. A lot of colleagues used to ask me: “So why attend a summit?” I thought this could be a good opportunity to try to explain why these summits are so important for me as a GroupWiseR
