Lab1120 - A Primer to Pacemaker High Availability in SLES 11
Pacemaker is the the open source clustering solution that comes with SLES 11. In particular two things are interesting about Pacemaker: it’s free and it can do anything that the Novell Proprietary clustering solution Novell Cluster Services (NCS) can also do. So, there is no reason not to get rid of NCS and start using Pacemaker for all your high availability needs. In this lab, after a thorough introduction you will know exactly what Pacemaker is all about, and how a high availability clustering solution helps you in improving service availability, also in environments where virtualization is used. You’ll also learn how to set up a simple cluster in which an Apache web service is clustered. Following this example, you can cluster anything, including typical solutions from the Novell world, such as GroupWise or NSS.
