Do you have as much of a passion for food and cooking as Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver and so many other celebrity chefs currently appearing on television? Are you enticed by “the perfect scrambled eggs” as made by Gordon Ramsay, aroused by the sight of naked vegetables or excited by the display of a cool new set of designer knifes in an attractive wooden block? Whatever your preference is, please read on...
In some respects it's hard to believe that the release of ZENworks 10 Configuration Management was over three years ago. With that release of ZENworks, Novell introduced an entirely new modular underlying architecture - one that was cross-platform, web services-based and directory agnostic. This architecture represented a departure from the “full-stack” dependence on other Novell technologies (eDirectory, Novell client, ConsoleOne) that older versions of ZENworks had. It also provided an opportunity for full integration of the formerly separate and standalone components of patch, asset and desktop management so that a single agent and single management console could provide a wide array of functionality.
When Erno looks at his large collection of PDA's and phones, he always remembers his first experience with a BlackBerry. In those days it was really for the “happy few” and being able to even touch and use such a exquisite device with the full QWERTY keyboard made you forget all the clumsiness of some other devices. When Volkmar is looking at the latest BES 5.0.1 for GroupWise server, which is still in beta of course, he cannot wait to see the response from his customers when he deploys it for them.
In just a few weeks the product team behind Novell Teaming will make available a new release of this next-generation collaborative Web application. The new Novell Teaming sports a user interface remodel, added branding capabilities, integrations with Novell Messenger and Novell Conferencing, and much more.
Microsoft Windows 7 has been one of Microsoft's biggest product launches ever. Unlike the Vista launch where enterprise adoptions were muted, analysts forecast that Windows 7 will show significant adoption over the next few years. One example of this is a recent IDC white paper that forecasts that more than 170 million units of Windows 7 will ship by the end of 2010 and this is also supported by Microsoft's recent quarterly results where they claim to have shipped in excess of 150 Million already. Thus the question for IT Directors and IT Teams across the globe is not “If” but “when” will I roll out Windows 7. This of course provokes a number a questions.
Over the next few weeks the TTP will be launching the ‘TTP Ambassador Program’ where over time a select few will be given the title of TTP Ambassador. The plan is to find a person within a particular region of a country who can act as a focal point for TTP activities and to potentially host training, and events in that area. In the USA for example the 'region' is likely to be a State. The first person to be given this title will be Tom Hafemann in Wisconsin in recognition of the work he continues to do in his area. If you work within an academic site perhaps you might like to become and Ambassador for the TTP; perhaps you know someone who would do a good job - if so, please email Peter Atkins (patkins@novell.com).
One of the major project deliverables for Open Horizons in 2010 is the delivery of the IT in Action events in more than 20 countries and 27 different locations. Our main goal has been to ensure that every single attendee of any of the IT in Action events presented throughout EMEA receives the same quality content from skilled and knowledgeable speakers, and in many cases, in their home language.
